  • Information and help for volunteering in Ghana.

After coming to Ghana as a volunteer I soon realised that most of the money I had paid to an organisation hadn't left England. In fact the disabled centre where I was working was losing money from having to pay for my meals and accomodation. I also realised how easy it is to volunteer in Ghana without any established organisation, which would allow you to spend the extra money on helping develop the project you are working on.

On this site you can find advice and help about going to volunteer in Ghana.

·· · Rehabilitation Centre

Location: Half an hour from the centre of Kumasi
Description of the project: Rehabilitation home for physically and mentally disabled ranging from 16-35 years. People are prepared for life outside with teaching mainly relating to handicrafts such as shoe and dress making.
Activities for volunteers: Volunteers are encouraged to use any existing skills they have to help, and there is a lot of freedom of choice as to what you can do. Past volunteers have taught art, literacy and maths to the students as most have not been to school, and also organised extra-curricular activities for them.
Accommodation: In the project
Notes: I worked at this project for 3 months, so if you want to know some more you can email me at johnblow89@hotmail.com
