  • Information and help for volunteering in Ghana.

After coming to Ghana as a volunteer I soon realised that most of the money I had paid to an organisation hadn't left England. In fact the disabled centre where I was working was losing money from having to pay for my meals and accomodation. I also realised how easy it is to volunteer in Ghana without any established organisation, which would allow you to spend the extra money on helping develop the project you are working on.

On this site you can find advice and help about going to volunteer in Ghana.

·· · O. E. C. School

Location: About a half hour from the centre of Kumasi
Description of the project: This is a quite new private school of a very high standard. It is therefore one of the richer schools in Ghana, and rather on European level. About 400 children attend the school, from preparatory school to class 5. Some of the pupils are boarders, the rest live at home.
Activities for volunteers:
-Teaching
-Teaching additional subjects e.g. Art and sports
-Looking after the children, in the preparatory or simply generally
Accommodation: Either within the school, or in a hostfamily.

    Hi,

I am interested in volunteering for a couple of weeks at the end of July. In fact, I am already volunteering at another school in Ghana but their school year starts in the first week of August. So basically I am trying to find somewhere that I can help out with the 2 weeks prior to that. I have quite a bit of teaching experience both in America and Japan and can give you more information if required.

I look forward to hearing from you
