+ About
After weeks trawling through the myriad of volunteer organisations on the net I finally settled on one of the cheaper ones. However upon coming to Ghana I soon realised that not only had I paid far more money than was necessary, but hardly any of my money was making its way to Ghana. In fact the disabled centre where I was working was losing money from having to pay for my meals and accomodation, whilst struggling to feed its own students. My flight and living costs here amounted to about a quater of what I had paid, and the contact persons who looked after me in Ghana (Nana and Douglas) were doing so voluntarily. The extra money I paid could have been put to a much better use here in Ghana by myself. Thus, with this site I want to offer information to prospective volunteers so that they can make informed decisions about whether or not to use an organisation, and also to place people on projects in Ghana.
This is made possible with the help of Douglas, who lives in Ghana and has contacts in projects in and around Kumasi and Accra. He takes an active interest in all the projects, mediating with the project leaders and taking care of the volunteers working at them.
So, I can give you information about the projects and if you like the sound of them, I can provide you with the necessary contacts in Ghana and help with the travel preparations…
